Would you be my sunshine?

Would you be my sunshine?
Give me your precious time?
This is not just another rhyme;
Maybe it’s my last crime.

Can I be left in your shadow?
Laugh a little, cry a little like a callow?
It may sound a little shallow,
But it may fill a soul deemed hollow

What am I if not your moon?
Over you because I swoon
Stay in your shadow from night to noon
As your light lights me, for you I croon.

I need you more than you’ll ever need me
I’ll stay close even if you don’t heed me
So close to me, yet so distant I see
I am with you whether or not you’re with me

So, for all that I say or do
All I can think of is you
Without any further ado
I ask this question to you

Would you be my sunshine?
Light me like a moon in your time?
It maybe, for me, the end of the line
But I’ll forever sing your rhyme

Just tell me, one more time
Would you be my sunshine?
